Grasshopper is a fantastic boutique for men & women established September 2006.
We are located in the heart of Philadelphia at 727 Walnut Street in the Diamond District right off of Washington Square Park. A store unlike any other, this place is going to be your new favorite spot. The interior of the boutique is a mix of high luxe, cozy backwoods, and a 70’s family den. The decor boasts mirrored ceilings, a forest mural and a real working fireplace. The dressing room lounge is a comfortable place to change, have a friend wait with advice, check your e-mail (free WIFI) or read a magazine. If you are lucky, you may stop by during one of our fabulous sale events where we offer discounts, cocktails, snacks and live DJs! The boutique features women & men’s apparel and accessories by up-and-coming designers from New York, Los Angeles, Paris and London, as well as Japan. Hand-picked, hard-to-find dresses hang alongside cashmere sweaters and high-waisted jeans. Sought after screened tees are stacked next to kitschy boxer briefs and plaid fedoras.
Another fine feature of Grasshopper’s location is that we are located directly next door to one of the most exciting salons in the city... American Mortals. Not only are they our neighbors, but our dressing room lounge is connected to their waiting room area. Perfect for a one stop make-over. Please check our blog for sales, new merchandise reports, discount days, parties and our online shopping site (coming Spring 2008)

the boutique Owner Tracy Lutz got her start in fashion working as a model in her late teens and early twenties doing print & runway work in New York, London, Paris & Athens. After settling in Philadelphia she became involved in wholesale apparel design while working at Retroactive, a t-shirt company based on artwork from the mid-century. It was here that she met and forged great friendships with Regina Mandell (co-owner) and Kimberly Bond (American Mortals owner). Regina’s background in sewing and jewelry construction easily lent itself to clothing design. Even after Retroactive’s end, Tracy and Regina stayed close and went on to do design work for Urban Outfitters, Sailor Jerry, and eventually their own label Niko. After an initial success, Niko started to struggle and the girls decided to realize a long time dream of opening their own boutique. A unique space became available next door to Kimberly’s salon in 2006 and Grasshopper was born.
